Approximately four years ago, the City of Raleigh launched a major initiative to update its comprehensive plan and development regulations. During the fall of 2009, the City Council approved the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, a document that provides a vision and policies for future growth and development in Raleigh. Work then began on the updating of the City's new development regulations, the actual laws that will regulate future development. This document has been labeled the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).
The initial draft of the UDO was released for public comment on April 6th. Comments must be submitted no later than June 6th. This event provides you with another opportunity to learn more about the UDO and provide feedback to the City. REMEMBER, the UDO will include the NEW LAWS that will regulate development in the City of Raleigh. It’s really important the RIGHT RULES are approved to ensure we grow better, not just bigger.
